I don’t know if I come across as one of those people who have it all together. I hope not. I mean, I try to keep it real and let you know that I suck at cooking for my family and my house is usually a wreck. My husband and I don’t always agree and our dog could use more attention.
This week I took a photo that wasn’t initially intended to be a part of this series, but wound up being a greatly realistic picture of my son and I. It made me realize something: Sometimes the best moments aren’t always pretty.
Not that this was the best moment of my life. Big T was clingy and glued to me almost the whole day (which I don’t mind, but it was a work day). He fell asleep on my arm and I couldn’t move him. Not to put him down (he’d wake up), not to grab my camera. So I turned on the webcam from my computer and captured the moment, messy hair, messy room and all.
This moment inspired me to remember to capture the imperfect moments in my life as well. I think that will be a photo challenge for me this week. Whether the photos are blurry but beautiful, snapped on my phone, or taken by someone else… Capturing those moments that aren’t always pretty, but still beautiful to us.
Will you join me?
Here are my other photos from moments we cherished this week.
My two favorite boys. Work keeps my hubby from joining us at church half the time, so I love Sundays when we all get to go together. Today was one of those days, and it was good.
After another late night I was hopeful, though not optimistic that he’d take a nap. After a morning of constructing train tracks and lounging together, he passed out in a pile of pillows with the sounds of railroad crossing and freight trains playing on the iPad.
Every time we open the garage my husband and I have to keep an eye out for the little guy because he darts for this red trike and takes it full speed down the driveway and into the road. Now we’re so used to it that when we’re together one of us will wait out in the road and make sure it’s clear for him while Big T comes down full speed with no fear.
Top knot? Nailed it! It’s been an uphill battle with my hair. But it’s nice to celebrate a simple win now and then.
I’ve actually never had a cup of coffee, but I do love me some cute mugs and hot coco on a cold 60 degree Texas day. Lil’ J helped me pick out this cup at the Disney Store. She knows I’m always telling her to dream BIG and follow her dreams. It’s so fitting.
Disney movie night! It was Daddy’s idea and a total hit. We ate pizza and pigged out on popcorn and candy. Lil’ J picked Cars. Big T lasted about half the movie but enjoyed the snacks til the end. I couldn’t narrow down my favorite picture so I picked two!
Sometimes that shot you thought was great turns out to be a blurry mess, but you love it anyway because it’s a beautiful moment you want to remember. We spent a lot of time trying to tire him out so he’ll sleep better tonight. I doubt it’ll work but at least we had fun.
